What to expect
Throughout this 6-month Leadership Journey, you experience a powerful blend of deep nature experiences, breathwork, meaningful reflection, and practical tools. Together with a committed group of peers on a similar path, you explore your vision, energy, and long-term impact.
You’ll embark on five days in the untouched Italian Alps, moving through unforgettable hikes, deep reflection, meaningful conversations, and solo time in nature. You experience transformative breathwork sessions and Sweat Lodge rituals that release stress and sharpen focus. The 7 Generations concept supports long-term leadership rooted in past and future impact, while practical tools help you anchor your learnings sustainably. Two follow-up workshops in the Netherlands — one and six months after the trail — further enrich your growth through breathwork and guidance as you apply your insights in real life.

What do you learn
The journey invites deeper self-insight and helps you express your strengths with confidence and authenticity. Supported by nature, connection, and breathwork, you develop a more grounded presence and an open, compassionate approach to leadership.
You gain a clearer understanding of your motivations, behaviours, and values while learning to empower your unique strengths. Through transparent communication and active listening, you cultivate authentic connections and compassionate leadership. Nature’s transformative power encourages self-discovery, resilience, and more sustainable energy management. The Leadership Challenge model by Kouzes & Posner helps you translate these insights into concrete, values-driven leadership behaviours. You also explore how to create long-term impact for the generations to come, staying receptive to the many insights that emerge along the way.
FAQs
Every expedition raises questions — about gear, safety, experience, or simply what to expect. Our FAQ offers the essentials so you can step in prepared, yet leaving space for the unknown.
No previous experience is required. All activities during the expedition are guided with care and adapted to your level. Whether it’s hiking, yoga, or breathwork, you’ll be supported every step of the way. What matters is curiosity and a willingness to engage with the experience.
Our expeditions are designed for people with a basic level of fitness who enjoy being active outdoors. You don’t need to be an athlete – what matters most is an open mind and willingness to embrace the challenge. Each day of this mountain expedition balances movement, reflection, and rest, allowing everyone to go at their own pace.
Travel to and from the meeting point is arranged individually. We’ll share clear instructions, recommended travel options, and practical details once you sign up. Whenever possible, we help participants coordinate shared rides or travel together – the journey often begins before you even arrive.
We keep our groups intentionally small – usually between 8 and 14 participants. This small-group format allows for personal attention, a sense of connection, and a safe, open atmosphere where everyone can share, reflect, and grow together.
Absolutely. It’s very common for people to join solo, while others may come with a small group. From the first moment, you’ll be part of a supportive group where everyone shares the same sense of curiosity and openness. The journeys are designed to create connection – both with others and with yourself.
The sweat lodge is a traditional purification ritual with roots in various Indigenous cultures of North America. Guided safely by an experienced facilitator, participants sit in a heated, dome-shaped structure to release tension, reflect, and reconnect through heat, steam, and intention. The ceremony symbolizes cleansing and renewal – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Participation is always optional; each person decides for themselves whether to take part and to what extent.
Weather in the mountains can change quickly. Days can be sunny and warm, while evenings often turn cool or misty. We recommend packing layers for flexibility and comfort on this mountain journey. Our guides monitor weather conditions closely to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing, whatever nature brings.
After registration, you’ll receive a detailed packing list for your hiking retreat. In general, bring comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for various weather conditions, sturdy hiking shoes, a reusable water bottle, and personal essentials. Layers, rain protection, and a small daypack are always useful in the mountains. We keep things simple – what you truly need is presence, curiosity, and a sense of adventure.
Choose sturdy, broken-in hiking shoes or lightweight trekking boots with good ankle support and grip. Waterproof materials are ideal. Avoid brand-new shoes – comfort is key. For those familiar with the Dutch system: think of A/B or B-category hiking boots. If you’re unsure which type suits your expedition, feel free to reach out to us for advice.
Each OTRO expedition is guided by experienced facilitators who bring a rich mix of expertise in coaching, nature-based learning, and personal development. They create a safe, inspiring space where reflection, connection, and transformation can unfold naturally. You can meet our facilitators and read more about their backgrounds in the Tribe section on our website.
