Why the Stick

The Talking Stick invites us to slow down and truly listen. Inspired by an ancient practice, it reminds us that communication isn’t only about speaking — it’s about giving space, attention, and presence to one another. Whoever holds the stick speaks from the heart; those without it, listen deeply.

Location

Snow is guaranteed. The route is not. The mountains decide and winter sets the stage, and we follow – into valleys, along ridges, and the silence shaped by the season itself. Always led safely by experienced guides.

The location depends entirely on snow, safety, and weather. It may be the Tour de Monte Rosa, Europe’s second highest massif after Mont Blanc. From Alagna, we circle past Zermatt with iconic, breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. We may enter the untouched beauty of Parco Gran Paradiso or go for the quiet wilderness in the Dolomites. If conditions require us to, we adapt and shift to another corner of the Alps. The final route is decided with local mountain guides shortly before departure, ensuring that every step and turn is both safe and unforgettable.

Activities

Five winter days where every step, every climb and every descent brings a new rhythm – shaped by snow and silence, where every day carries the same promise: adventure outside, reflection within.

The rhythm is simple: breathe, move, reflect. After a morning ritual you spend the day ski-touring across valleys and ridges. Guides teach you avalanche skills, map reading, and rope techniques. Depending on the conditions, we either return to basecamp or go from hut to hut. Wherever we are, evenings belong to the circle - food, warmth, and sharing stories and insights. Nothing polished, nothing forced.

FAQs

Every expedition raises questions — about gear, safety, experience, or simply what to expect. Our FAQ offers the essentials so you can step in prepared, yet leaving space for the unknown.

How do travel arrangements and transport work?

Travel to and from the meeting point is arranged individually. We’ll share clear instructions, recommended travel options, and practical details once you sign up. Whenever possible, we help participants coordinate shared rides or travel together – the journey often begins before you even arrive.

How many people are in the group?

We keep our groups intentionally small – usually between 8 and 14 participants. This small-group format allows for personal attention, a sense of connection, and a safe, open atmosphere where everyone can share, reflect, and grow together.

Is the expedition suitable for people who come alone?

Absolutely. It’s very common for people to join solo, while others may come with a small group. From the first moment, you’ll be part of a supportive group where everyone shares the same sense of curiosity and openness. The journeys are designed to create connection – both with others and with yourself.

What should I bring with me on the expedition?

After registration, you’ll receive a detailed packing list for your hiking retreat. In general, bring comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for various weather conditions, sturdy hiking shoes, a reusable water bottle, and personal essentials. Layers, rain protection, and a small daypack are always useful in the mountains. We keep things simple – what you truly need is presence, curiosity, and a sense of adventure.
